Developing Propaganda Thru the Arts

El Lissitzky   Russian Constructivist In the poster, the intrusive red wedge symbolizes the  Bolsheviks , who are penetrating and defeating their opponents, the  White movement , during the  Russian Civil War . It is an example of  Constructivism . Victory Stele of Naram-Sin from The Akkadiam Empire It depicts the King  Naram-Sin of Akkad  leading the Akkadian army to victory over the mountain people, the  Lullubi . It shows a narrative of the King crossing the steep slopes into enemy territory; on the left are the ordered imperial forces keeping in rank while marching over the disordered defenders that lay broken and defeated.  Naram-Sin in shown as by far the most important figure; he is shown towering over his enemy and troops and all eyes gaze up toward him.   The weak and chaotic opposing forces are shown being thrown from atop the mountainside, impaled by spears, fleeing and begging Naram-Sin for mercy as well as being trampled underfoot by Naram-Sin himself. Culture - Going, Going Gone!!!

Image
Q - Andy, why is it hard to find you in any academic convention? seminar, conference, round table and what not ? A - first - what is culture when we dont practice it?  is there a need for me to attend a certain RACE based seminar, listening to cold quantifiable executive summary by all those DR, phd "scholars" which at times disguised as a form of appreciation towards a culture. like my pal said "mati kat text" Mind you and it is very sad seeing cultural objects now is simply a museum/research artifact/exhibit ( correct - who wants to wear kain sarong, carrying a keris today right? ).  soon, my nephews and nieces will be viewing these sort of tiles in a museum, explained by an expert from a different country.

Gen X : 1995

Image
every generation have their own terms. We are labelled as the Gen X. Growing up disenchanted, disillusioned - mind you we are getting older ( still disenchanted and delusional ). Now we mingling with snowflakes. come to think again, does snowflakes came from gen X or the baby boomers? Anyway im not going to talk about snowflakes, as i need to reflect upon my generation - we too are far from perfect and always will go against the baby boomers generations. Mind you every generations have specific challenges, technologies and environments designed for them - except the same normal societal conditions ( such as getting jobs, get married, get kids, get old and die ) and surroundings.( traffic jams and such ) here is me in 1995 the time where Nirvana, Stone Temple Pilots and Pearl Jam is our soundtrack. All boys school where we behaved so bad/awkward when there are girls in front of us. Can you imagine. 1. Our discipline teacher is so pissed off with us as he said this "

Measurement Unit : Idiots

Image
its futile finding the right measurement units for idiots. nothing more annoying when you need to deal with 1. people who gives tons of suggestions in a committee meeting  - when you know the person unable to contribute nothing except opening his/her mouth. 2. people who (always) never fail in crediting/highlighting themselves - forgot that others who initiates and doing something upon it. Generally ideas are "abstract" - so turning something "abstract" unto tangible takes tremendous effort. what is worst - when idiots who go against it and yet celebrates when its the job is done.  3. when their efforts, intelligence ( if they are )  and proclaiming are mis-matched.  The word proclaiming should not exist in the first place as it's simply an "ego-centric" disease. Words is cheap as the more people try to be ( act ) something whom they are not, they will simply.........fail. 4. people who unable to see the bigger picture yet wanting t

No Budget

Image
its horrifying when you still have people ( an education holding ) producing these sort of films in 2018 in the country. as predicted, everyone trashed the film eventually, so the main actor took to social media, whining about it and claimed that it's better than Black Panther......absurdity at it's best. Marvel raking in billions of bucks - but hey i have no complaints as they dont serve absurd meals but rather than buying a ticket for this, might as well i watch the excellent Ramon Film Production's no budget Ugandan Who Killed Captain Alex.

The Dog

finally.........the petty dumbass fiery rooster left the building. Its a pretty awkward CNY as we lost our dad last March. 2017 is filled with many dramatic incidents, twists and turns - the ups and downs. This coming March - we going to have dad's 1st year anniversary. Yes...We ( especially myself ) miss you dad! Hope you are well and good over there.

Revisiting : Nana

Image
nana complaint that she is getting fatter here You can consider yourself LUCKY when you can establish friendship with someone thru the years which you can BE ultimately be yourself, Nana Hamdan is one of those RARE soul which i able to share alot of things with her. The relationship we forged cemented to a brother - sister relationship status. So no holds barred here. In fact, she is direct, not fussy, simple and most importantly knows how to deal with temperament and direct nature of yours truly. In fact, Nana is the one of those rare few can place Adam ( her youngest child ) unto my lap and instructed me to babysit him while she is putting the finishing touches to the cards. After my Kelantan disaster - humanitarian mission, i asked Nana if she able to help me when i wanted to print a selected number of art prints in order to raise some fund for future missions. She obliged - and honestly in fact goes all the way to help the job easier. From getting the right paper to p

What if?

Image
what would happened if 85% of Malaysians decided to not come out from their houses and refuse to vote? It seems the word CHANGE doesnt carry meaning here, it's merely CONCEPTUAL. Seriously i have to admit, i had enough seeing/reading/contemplating all these rubbish, reports of public fund abuse/wastage, this and that. How the politicians sleep at night eh? hantu pun geleng kepala la.....
