The Idiot Box 2002

Image
2002 This post is about my final project, i got a C- which successfully dragged my CGPA lower than before. Seriously i dont know what the hell is CGPA but honestly i really don't learn much when i was a under-graduate. But i know that 1. i love the library 2. Mass Comm subjects is awesome. 3. I love Napster.  Mass Comm female students are prettier than in my school. After drifting away doing nonsense and helping the theater students you found yourself in the final year. So when you are a final year Creative Arts students, you need to produce a final year project. I love filming plus been digging video arts and reading alot of Theodor Adorno books, i produced this. The Idiot Box. So what the hell is the Idiot Box? The Idiot Box is a short experimental film using existing and original footage and we jumble them up creating nonsense. The Idiot Box actually is a term for TV, so when people watch TV, the mind shut off. Its effective. Parents let the kids watch TV s

Mizi - “D – apa kata kita join ni” ( he passes me a form ) Its a documentary entry form. I replied, “ I tak nak la…..buat apa?” “Buang masa la…….” Mizi -   “ ni Southeast asia bro…...besar ni” I said “ so what………….” “Takder duit pun if menang.” “art-art ni malas gua nak layan, macam u tak tau....” Seriously I was pondering if I should enter this or not. I was frustrated coz we did tried our level best observing and participating in producing documentaries right to the extend meeting the Vice President of Discovery Channel Vikram Channa - we got no results.  And now, in my hand is the form.A chance to do something. Before dealing with film and documentary, i was trained as a fine artist and in graphic design. So i read the form further after Mizi went back to Ampang. So....i scan thru the details....participants need to submit photographs or a short documentary. It need to do with southeast asia values. So I decided to go with this. Wha

originally posted in FB on June27th 2011 Ok most of you guys had been approached about my latest project. The ones who are tagged are welcomed to invite everyone to participate in this. Tentatively i wanted to exhibit this project in Muzium and Galeri Tunku Fauziah ( USM, Penang ) led by Hasnul J.Saidon and his team starting on Aug 1 until Sept 16 which is  Malaysia Day. This project will be called Dinding Bercakap . ( translation : If the walls could speak....it would be interesting to hear a "wall" speak ). OK,since Merdeka and Malaysia Day is approaching, so i think it's appropriate to do something concerning with Malaysia  without being cliche ( lets skip all those boring cultural shows, parade and etc ) I need a big help from all you guys who are tagged. please ask anybody to contribute a stack of post-it-notes complete with their thoughts, opinions, drawings or whatever in your post-it-notes on this question: What you can do for MALAYSIA? the

C.K. approached me while i was having my hourly fix of coffee and cigarette. Then he asks me " dude, could you help me do a write up?" Hmmmmm......sure....what sort of write up? He replied...."my new solo"......i was quiet, thinking how does C.K. got his time to produce works since all of us was flooded with other work and commitment. Later, with his good coffee, he showed me his latest work and below is my write-up for his new work. Thanks to Leo and of coz Nabil also for taking some time to proofread this. If one steps into the world of C.K.Koh’s latest Ultraflat[1] exhibition, you can see miniaturized cute and muscular characters dressed in our favourite superhero costumes as they greet you with a bang. Yes Loud. Bam!!! Wham!!! The visuals strike you right in your face. You have nowhere to hide. They just confront you; much like an Internet meme[2]. Either you get it or you don’t. I do hope however that viewers of his work will be able to interpr
