Mau Buat Filem?
With the writer's strike going full steam ahead, we can see how the union going head to head with major studios to ensure the creatives safety and benefits are regulated and taken well off. With AI rapidly descending, Deep Fakes flew higher than the Uncanny Valley - soon the actors will be replaced, their images will be subjected to various manipulations by the paying studios.
Film studios no doubt will find ways to cut every corner to maximize their investments, they couldn't care to answer to paying audience but reporting to their board members, they are more concern with profits and loss. But that's Hollywood, where film are financed and engineered by the private sectors.
Come to our Bolehland, where our "creative" industries funded by tax payers money. Without fail, the govt will inject fund yearly and "producers" and "directors" and "production" companies to come begging to produce garbage.
Honestly speaking with a population of 31.2 million Malaysians, these "creatives " simply got away with grants and couldn't be bothered to see if they able to sell or not. They need to share their total ticket collection with the cinemas and another 25% entertainment tax.
They forgot that these grants are tax-payers money.
Our fucking money.
They don't have to pay the grant back, plus if they are lucky, they will get a new slash funds in the following year. Same faces for almost 2 decades lining up and resting in every available spaces and corners, few promoted unto the committee. Literally they are cancer claiming crap - adored by blind public, worst termed or coined "otai" or "orang lama".
Best part - at times these miserable delusional failures steps in to be an evaluator asking presenters who (presented their pitch) if their work able to sell or not? Anyway enough of my observation. Let the photos below show few notable shitty examples.
Bear in mind that there are universities offering degrees in "cinematic arts"
Cmon.

took a grant and sold the product to Netflix - how about that. |
p/s - there are ways to re-invent this wheel and im not going to write here. I believe with the right skills, talents and crowds, they will finance the whole creative endeavor. Same goes to the Fine Arts arena. Enough of bowing and listening to craps and suggestions from the panel or GLC "experts". Again - we are paying your fat salary and allowances every 26th of each month.
