Django
How you want to top yourself when you won Cannes Festival -
the Palm D’Or, Pulp Fiction broke new ways to tell a story visually, forced the
audience to watch the film again to make it sensible and understandable. Then
you put all homages from East, go crazy with every available visual languages in Kill Bill.
Telling everyone that you will only produce 10 films to
cement your legacy, Quentin leveled up in his own standards not the industry
by giving us Django Unchained. Django is 100 times better than the Hateful
Eight. Both are Western, with Django, we get to see an illiterate slave to assassin
while the Hateful Eight is putting all the bad guys in a single location.
It’s a single act. Reservoir Dogs in a Western format.
For me Django takes the prize, the masterpiece, a complete
hero’s journey. With Marvel, we have complete hero but a weak villain, in
Quentin’s universe, we have asymmetrical hero, mentor face to face with an intelligent justified bad guy.
Rather than an idiot, we have the slave advising the master.
Brilliant.
You stood with Dr Schultz when he gunned down Candie. The
action resulted from his moral judgment and principle, making Django see and
realized that he need to walk out from all of these alone and blowing out Quentin in the process.
Django - is a beautiful coffee table books with glorious
3000 pages, filled of empathy, sensibilities, colored with acceptable violence,
blood pouring out everywhere and why it’s acceptable? We pay the god damn
ticket to run from the mind numbing reality to be served with meals consists of emotional, physically and mentally to have sensation to be...........alive.
Glorious.
A complete glorious
meal.
That is why we need this.
