Nusantara : The Demon of the Night is a comic book by Firdaus Baharuddin, published by Mambang Studio and Annasis Mirror. Our Southeast Asia region especially Malaysia is full of with many local mythologies and epic stories but when HR Giger's Xenomorph makes a pit stop here, this book got my full attention. I always joked with few of my pals what if Hang Tuah stopped halfway on his quest to see Puteri Gunung Ledang to battle the reggae haired hunter Predator? It would be cool right? Andy, ensure your work is not a masturbation process!! Masturbation? This is one of those many memorable advice i got when i was uni.I got this from my faculty Dean..i figured out soon enough. When people dont understand your work, you required to explain - its a freaking tiresome and painstaking effort seriously...hell i was in the degree of visual communications. So when people dont understand what they are seeing - then something wrong with the visual.  why is there a need to explain? Its simply a frustating and meaningless act. Do we need to explain why we fall in LOVE? Why we need to sleep? Audience can come from many degrees of separation but when certain works that requires 100 pages long to explain it - then there is something wrong. This advice made me go to an extra mile and most importantly practice self criticism. Seeing it in a 360 angles. Thoughtfulness comes unto play. Bro have you watched the TLJ? Prologue This question takes 2 cups of teh tarik and yes occasionally sound effect in a friendly neighborhood mamak stall. We know that there are so many whiny Star Wars self confessed "fans" who are annoyed with it as all their speculations are thrown out from the window. But with 2 hours and 30 mins....i was entertained. How i wish i can remind them that they should go watch again those awful prequels....i seriously hated Attack of the Clones and nearly slept in Episode 1 rather than immersed what's in the screen. Rather than Maul and Qui Gon sabre fight - I got a senate hearing! Disney observed that Lucas didnt do anything with his property so they jumped in and purchased Lucasfilm for merely 4 billion bucks ( Fox worth 52 billion - mind you ). Why? The possibilities are endless ( insert money sound here ) and now they have Fox ( which owned Alien and Predator )....i'm salivating for a cross universe mutant breeding orgy her...

we are living in a postmodern world. Most of the time - i will use the term postmodern ( see end notes ) for something i find funny, confusing or absurd. Anyway its normal as we are now living in the self absorbed individualistic world. Every modernist conventions are deconstructed ( see end notes ) and re-structured according to individual means and needs. Its like having your favorite Wan Tan Mee and Char Koey Teow cooked by a guy from Myanmar and an Indonesian taking your meal order. in other words it means chaos, colorful and whatever that baffles your mind. Its welcoming as society loves to impose traditional- structural system, signs and methodology. I'm happy seeing that Malaysia ( a tropical - Islamic country yet multi racial country ) celebrating this post-modernistic Christmas. Like this photo. long before Marvel Studios exist, let me introduce you Unbreakable.  There is once where when no one cares about comic book, this brilliant film was released in 2000, Bruce Willis played David Dunn ( an alternate version of Superman ).  Every shot ( tracking shots ), lighting - designed to evoke the style of comic book. In Kill Bill - Quentin Tarantino re-contextualized Superman in Kill Bill Vol 2. As you know, l’m quite keen on comic books. Especially the ones about superheroes. I find the whole mythology surrounding superheroes fascinating. Take my favorite superhero, Superman. Not a great comic book, not particularly well-drawn, but the mythology. The mythology is not only great, it’s unique…Now, a staple of the superhero mythology is, there’s the superhero and there’s the alter ego.
