Ola Crap
finally gutted myself to purchase Ola Bola and watched it. I cringed and squirmed, seriously glad that i didnt watched it in the big screen. ( One of the biggest regret is seeing Deadpool in IMAX - the ticket costs me 28 bucks ). Anyway back to Ola Bola.
In the social media, people lavish it with tons of praise - while mentioning it that they felt nationalistic after watching it. Same praise that i found in the Bersih related demostration posts...but Bersih demo have tons of people singing the national anthem ( so credits to that ), but this film ignored this important step which is....
It's as it the film is directed by someone who dont experience a live football game - for an audience who didnt experience a single football game. Mind you, football is a scared process - its like male losing his virginity - a rite of passage, a calling to a brotherhood. Watching the footballers give out their very best to safeguard/bring out the country's pride.
We curse when the footballers misses his chance to score, failed to collect a fucking pass, curse when the defenders failed to safeguard their defense ( like the lousy Rio ),clueless midfielder who unable to read the game and yes all those time wasting antics employed by the opponent....we will do all those cat whistles when females walked pass us, screamed on top of lungs, hugged when a goal is scored.....and yes, harassing the opponents and their fans...
Here take a look how both captains from Arsenal and Man Utd behaves when they have a derby match.
In this film, footballers here ( lembik macam sayur kangkung ) just want to play for the sake to go to Moscow, rather than winning the game, a goalkeeper crying and lamenting ( again a WTF moment ) - making the whole squad crying.
I cringed and threw away the dvd.
.....in the dressing room ( half time ) where the room filled with sweat and blood, air filled with tension, if we are losing, we will bring up the spirit with a battlecry, supported with the tongue lashing by the coach like the infamous hairdryer treatment from Sir Alex
The film Ola Bola - operated smoothly with those make believe - fake visuals at its best. Its exactly like those posts about an inferior event, comments and opinions making it appear substantial in the social media.....
compare this cast with the original players, take a look.
The original players looks like they dont have a room for crying and yes, macho gila...ensuring the job done. All macho shit and we get a cast who cant grow a decent mustache....
This film collected 16 million bucks.
Anyway, i run thru all my collections of related football related films, most of it are British related ones - hooligans and all, the ones that still stands out is the film called The Damn United. Superb storytelling and didnt insult the true blue fan in me.
this looks like Zouk than in a football field. |
singing The Negaraku- anthem
