Just finished assessing 84 students for my Art History subjects and another 40+ students for the SEA Culture studies. Its interesting as students required to work in groups and need to impress me with their ideas, presentation and how they going to execute their projects.
They required to choose and remix any existing paintings from any era to something new.
TOA actually recruited the best students from the country compared to other colleges and i might say local universities. Generally their attitude, aptitude, communication skills and levels is one step higher.
So in 2014, im back lecturing in the college.
Im taking a break entirely from films and documentaries.
Back to - favorite subject of mine - Art History. You see dealing with this kids, exposing them the world of the art history requires alot of tact and yes entertainment ( you need find ways to tell a story, let them understand why history repeats again and again ), not lecturing them or killing them with boring stuffs, facts and endless slides like how i suffered in uni.
This millennials are a different breed, they grew up with the social media, in fact social media is them.So their attention span is short - most lecturers need to know and find ways to make their class engaging.
Not to forget - Common sense is needed too in education.
Alot!!!
Anyway enough talking, let me show you what the wonderful kids did. Im happy and i just hope that they will find a way to get inspired and remained inspired when they graduate from college.
