"Economist" of the Year
From November 2022 to May 2024 someone made 31 official and working visits to 19 countries.
"hardworking"
The government said these trips "generated" RM353.6 billion in "potential" investments in 2023 and RM77.58 billion from January–May 2024.
Potential to me is equivalent to only 20%
If the numbers of the investments are good why they are dumping their TNB shares with a discount.
Maybe they need fast cash injection.
Khazanah Nasional Berhad – 15.65% (the Malaysian government's sovereign wealth fund).
After Khazanah's latest disposal of TNB shares, its holding is : 18.05%
Employees Provident Fund (EPF/KWSP) – 15.11%. Now EPF is the biggest shareholder.
-----
Total EPF members: about 18.1 million (2025).
Active contributors: about 10.6 million.
Malaysia has roughly 800,000–900,000 government pension recipients (including retired civil servants and beneficiaries). The exact number changes yearly.
------
So it takes 12 EPF active contributors to sustain 1 pensioner.
------
Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (KWAP) – 6.83% (public sector pension fund).
KWAP currently is under fire as they invested 180 million to an Indonesia unicorn scammer.
Amanah Saham Bumiputera (ASB) – 5.98%, held through AmanahRaya Trustees.
The rest are
Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) funds,
Tabung Haji,
Public Mutual,
Foreign institutional investors such as Vanguard and BlackRock,
Insurance companies,
Retail (individual) investors.
