Selling Oil or Superhero?
when you in charge of the country, you suppose to empower your goons and rest of the ministry to generate or find multiple ways to service your debts and costs of tunning one. Again its baffling seeing companies linked to the government got an easy way out by having multiple bail outs.
the problem about bail outs is - the money is used is citizen's money. Might as well you drag all those highly paid CEO's to dig their own pocket to pay their shit or take responsibility of the mess they created.
Meet Sapura, in 2018 they got MYR 2.68 billion to clean up their mess, yet still is debt laden and now in 2025, they got another MYR 1.1 billion. Total bailout is MYR 3.7 billion.
Now meet Marvel, in the 90's, they were struggling hard. Eventually they have to sell off Spidey, Ghost Rider, Thor and Luke Cage to Sony, while X-Men, Fantastic Four and Daredevil to Fox while Hulk and Namor to Universal.
They are left with B characters......in 2008 they decided to gamble by re-introducing Iron Man back to the world. Much to everyone's surprise, it hit all the sweet spot to traditional fans and best, generating new ones. Marvel took only 16 years before giving us Avengers Endgame.
They made it look easy, leaving their nearest competitor DC in the dust.
Now this is the best part, Marvel used USD 356 million to produce the film to generate USD 2.79 billion.
Anyway i dont know which one is easier? Selling Oil and Gas related stuffs or offering us a chance to escape from reality by witnessing the Avengers exacting revenge against Thanos.
p/s - dont let me start about creative economy and film funds here.
