Instant Noodle

so an artist decide to hang float jackets to resembling a water tower, the float jackets represent feelings and memories of immigrants who took shelter in this water tower....a reminder that history will repeat itself.

so when a national institution trying to organize a competition, titled it "art on location", artists all over town went to create an artwork in order to connect with the community.

Question for this artwork, what will happen when people cant connect with the float jackets and mind you, what sort of immigrants coming in to seek shelter in the tower since this artwork is based on this narrative after ten years the tower is built, a huge flood in 1895 hit the tower and Teluk Intan.

akin to any Korean Buldak Ramen Noodle, this artwork consists of instant footnotes, wikis and a dash of showmanship.

fast forward today we have Banglas, Pakistanis, Myanmars and Rohingyas coming in, not to seek shelter, but calling this country as our home. Yes dont forget we have concessional banjir too..

since migrants are fashionable in any international art bienalle, the work predictably declared as a winner, attended by Deputy Prime Minister ( who cleared from 47 charges involving multiple counts of criminal breach of trust, corruption and money laundering related to the misuse of $27m of funds at Yayasan Akalbudi, a charity he established to eradicate poverty.)

Anyway Ai Wei Wei did an installation back in 2016, using float jackets too.

Next time, to all juries, do your bloody homework.
