A Flower Killer

"You can sit in front of the TV and watch something for five hours........."Give cinema some respect"  - Martin Scorsese

Clocking in for 3 hours and 26 minutes, Martin ( 81 years old ) 26th feature film will hook you with a damn fine storytelling, with slow witted Leonardo De Niro and shrewd Rovert De Niro, we witness one of the most inhuman act of greed.

Forget autistic Tik Tok fast cuts, jittery cameras, explosives and endless color blind CGI stunts, the film present us a brilliant satisfying cinematography on the largest canvas. The film gave absolute justice to David Grann's book "Killers of the Flower Moon,"in which took a decade to produce.

The Osage Nation forced to flee from their homelands by the US Government, fate shed some luck unto them as they found oil and became insanely wealthy.

Known as ‘Reign of Terror’- the plot focused on Osage Indian murders in the 1920's, a complex plot was hatched to eliminate the Osage inheritors on a one-by-one basis by any means possible. Officially, the number of victims reached at least twenty, but more are thought to be undocumented.

The Dhegiha language spoken by the Osage - or Wazhazhe, in their tongue - had no direct translatable written alternative, Martin Scorsese developed a script with Noam Chomsky, which was heavily inspired by the Navajo and Minion alphabets.

Martin Scorsese intentionally did not include subtitles during certain Osage spoken scenes. According to the director, he wanted people to "see the movie, not read the movie" and that in the scenes where the subtitles are not included, the viewers should be able to tell what is being said.

An interlink - massive web of greed consists of police, sheriffs, doctors, undertakers, lawyers, in-laws, an undertaker and judges, all of them work together to, at best, remove as much wealth as they can from the Osage Nation - where every elements of political, legal and insurance structure are manipulated.

The problem about this film is that it doesn't have any problem - its a long rewarding ride, Martin took us for a long ride unto the countryside, constructing this majestic beast. The massive narrative are divided, cut and presented to us beautifully ( tastefully ) and friendly enough for us to know who is who involved in this huge manipulative act.

Martin Scorsese said "It's not a whodunit. It's a who-didn't-do-it." in a press conference at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival,

Unlike the colorful, noisy, boisterous loud Wolf ( funded by Jho Low ) and torturous ( hard to swallow ) The Irishman ( which cost Netflix around USD 160 Million ) , Killers of the Flower Moon is one quiet kid jostling to stand proudly side by side with Shutter Island, Goodfellas and yes......Raging Bull.
