Creative Content 10.0

Disney - the pop culture monster turned bigger when they purchased Marvel and Lucasfilm. Bear in fact that their animation back-end catalogue is wide and huge, all their animations now is turned unto live animation films. Goodness with their theme parks throughout the world, let us not forget they have Pixar in their other pocket.

This is a studio where they got billions of bucks when they released a movie about a theme park involving a character named Jack Sparrow. The Pirates of Caribbean turned to a smash hit, turning Johnny Depp unto a cultural icon, before Amber Heard slapped and abused him.

Their IP's - contents filled with constant reissued romanticism no doubt will continue to make their presence ever relevant to every generation of human being until to the next century.  Superhero films was a big joke in the early 90's before Sam Raimi and Bryan Singer came unto picture. Always in the backburner in Hollywood, then came two individuals in the form of Kevin Feige and Jon Favreau.

While Disney busy restructuring herself, they left Jon and Kevin to build and plan a blueprint for the next 10 years. Their initial investment is calculated, the risk is manageable, plus their budget for them is passable from the board of directors - The ROI of Iron Man is good enough to finance a third world country's national budget.

Here our government proudly increased the debt ceiling, borrowing more to pay their debts. While people began to see the importance of creative industry, our industry put it simply, is still lost deep in the jungles of Amazon.

Here - we have a different Amazon - continued to generate money rather than wasting hard earned citizen's money on ridiculous populist agenda.

..........let me add, while the local authorities and delusional politicians still dreaming to wanting to walk in a red carpet for Oscars. Disney couldnt give a shit about winning awards -  they have subsidiaries doing it for them, namely Miramax who sweeps Palm D'Or in Cannes and produced hard hitting cult products.

goodness, their catalogues is so wide, eclectic and edgy

what im talking here is that all these studios and individuals dont take short cuts to success. Disney took years and years, losses, heartaches and most importantly maintaining their brand consistently. We dont see any political party endorsed goons in their management or dictating their policy.

After seeing George Lucas not doing anything with his products namely Indiana Jones and Star Wars, they swooped in and purchased every brick and mortar - and soon enough, they slowly capitalizing on them, updating them to the current generation.

No doubt i hated the prequels and anything related with Rey and Kylo, i totally understand what they are doing. They simply need to quadruple their initial investments. Its simple - when a film studio got their returns, they will look for better prospects ( lets expand a new universe )

Soon enough - Jon Favreau slowly coaxed me to re-look back at the world of Star Wars. The gritty, used universe- filled with scumbags and villainy, most importantly the main character is a mercenary for hire.

The Mandolarian.

Guess Disney executives took a retreat and have their investments calculated by bringing back Jon to the drawing board. They looked unto the performance of Rogue 1 and Solo.

Rogue 1 brought us to tears while Solo made me confused.

The right people, right talents and right investments. True enough its not easy to please everyone, season 1 of the Mandolarian is tad shaky like the Razor's Crest but season 2 blew me off with a great start, having Din Djarin and the kid exploring the galaxy to seek the Jedi.

when people dig the series, the ROI will start generating organically. Toys, costumes, toilet stuffs, perfumes and whatever they can milk unto. The fans will buy anything. They hit the jackpot when they got Baby Yoda.

Disney is doing what they are best at doing - giving us something by expanding their content, with the exception of Netflix, Disney basically is the Empire, dictating every move and now going unto the streaming territories, we the consumers are happy as we are getting more options to have quality consumption.

Seriously - i couldnt be bothered with the local tv stations and their relevant clueless related stations as they are still living in the dark ages. Enough talking about IP's as they are clueless, lost and basically have no clue even if they are reading this.

With Covid 19 rampaging all over town, people binged in online - Disney + now prepping us up with lines of interesting narrative for us to view. As their theme park attendance affected due to the virus, they have online income generating structure to make them float.

Here we have Tourism agents and hotel associations complaining that the govt is doing enough. To be fair, you guys must look unto something new to make sure for survival.

With no products and no stuffs to look forward unto, our broadcast television system here continued their very best to produce mind numbing drugs which either religiously inclined and "artist" related monstrosity.

An episode of Fringe or Dark will make them confused for the next 10 years.

Goodness, as im writing this, im completely aware that even 20th Century Fox is now belonged to Mickey Mouse. So imagine Aliens and Predator creeping in. I guess Marvel will experiment with the multi-verse system as their character namely Spiderman and X-Men still belongs to Sony.

Most importantly now all companies are now looking for products and stories, not directors. They couldnt give a shit about Nolan, Scorcese or grooming for another Spielberg, they are looking for lightning in the bottles powered by Tesla.

They want stories, together chasing with Netflix, throwing as much money to get a new set of valuable IP's. Netflix got one which im looking forward to which is The Witcher.

Investing money to get more money.

Unlike here - borrowing money to sustain wasteful useless crap.

Wake up la oi.

p/s - its been years i turned down all opportunities to speak at seminars, workshops or attending pitching sessions now. I will vomit the moment i heard or read the word CREATIVE INDUSTRY 4.0.  Seriously its a bloody insult when you have people who is paid monthly talking to producers about making money.By all means, you guys can go fuck yourself.
