Medal of Honor
alot of people like to mention themselves, whatever they did this or that, an act of self re-affirmation. People who is wise and knows WHAT they are doing HAVE NO TIME for this - recollecting whatever they had done.
I find it pathetic.
This is why i always avoid school or alumni gathering. Blasting and sharing tales of yesterday.
Past tense.
Same thing with resumes, who on earth have time to read out your achievements this and that.
Who cares?
One of the important lesson i got from my dad is, never ever look back at what you done. He didn't mention anything about his experiences in combat, recce missions to his kids. Once, i got back home and opened up the drawer, i stumbled upon a collection of his medals.
Not one, but alot.
So i ask him the 5W and 1H of each medal.
His explanation made my mouth drop and i googled out to find out more of his squad. But what i want to highlight here is he DIDN'T brag around or continue to bore us with his tales like any old man.
He shoved it aside and move on.
But i know he is proud when i show him the medals. So i took liberty in polishing, putting all of the medals in a custom made display.
when I showed him in the hospital, his subtle nod made me happy. Mind you, every single medal you see here, he earned with his own blood, sweat and tears. He earned it.
We just need to know what we had done and move on and continue to see what is needed to be done.
Same thing, lately i refuse to share what i had done. If i have the mood, i'll share but most of the time, i find it a chore.
Lets move forward. Enough roses to smell.
No need to re-affirm, proclaim this and that, showing off to everybody.
Just know yourself well and yes, stay humble always.
