Logo
A logo - a graphic mark, emblem, or symbolused to aid and promote public recognition.
It may be of an abstract or figurative design or include the text of the name it represents.
secondly - a graphic designer who spend years, investing thousands of bucks in their formal education specializing it, learning all the required skills, perfecting their craft - to put an "idea" to a "form" is not easy plus, launching it and to be accepted needs time.
dealing with clients who wants it adds more complications.
lastly - anything requires to grow in anybody's heart requires time.
lets see all the brilliant logos's that stand thru the time, even i can summarize few examples with one line because it just works.
Coca Cola with her curves, Mcdonalds with the yellow M, someone bite an Apple. Swoosh.
so Malaysia just unveiled their new logo for Visit Malaysia Year 2020.
i thought its a prank. Seriously?......Malaysia is a tropical, multi cultural country - a melting pot of cultures. In fact, it's so colorful - so putting something to represent it is not easy. But an orang utan and a turtle and a coconut tree?
A stamp in this digital age?
a collage like homage ala Matisse?
Man.........I admit, i laughed so hard when i saw the post, but now im silently weeping, sighing and contemplating. Everyone the social media bashing this, but remember, it's launched, it's done. There is nothing we can do about it, even it someone offers up a 1000 word rationale to this , people will keep on bashing it.
30 - 50 years - well seriously it doesnt matter, its all about taste. Its like those all drama, telemovies thru the years served by local television stations, they kept on churning same rubbish.
good or bad - people will keep on complaining.
people will move on and forget about it.
what is important is we just need to know, what select of what we consume.
anyway tomorrow is Monday, back to the usual grind, soon people will forget about this.
trust me - i dont. Especially when i have penyu, orang utan berkaca mata hitam memeluk monyet belanda to represent my country. No arguments there as its designed by someone who have 30 freaking years of experience.
