Running an temple is not easy. You need a good organisation and every member of the organisation serve the temple is voluntary. Under Taoism universe - we have so many deities and only the lucky few are chosen and assigned to be a medium for a specific deity. Being a medium again is not easy and have their own set of challenges. In this case, ive done paintings on a deity named Chang Fei.

Every deity again have something that we dont have - which is Compassion. I bet they must be shaking their head seeing what rubbish we are doing here on earth. So that is why, they have to come down from the heavens and give us ( mere mortal ) lessons to ponder and reflect.

at times, we only pray when shit falls unto us. We always forgot.

Chang Fei is one of the fiercest deity in the Taoism universe, his strict - effective - discipline demeanor is not for the faint hearted ones. Ive seen people shiver when kneeling to offer him wine. Before he was promoted as a deity in the heaven, he was one of the generals works with Liu Bei and the popular Guan Yu and ZhuGe Liang to fight against Cao-Cao in the Romance of the Three Kingdom. He has the shortest fuse.

imagine tag team to battle the prime minister who have infinite amount of resources. You simply need a sharp mind, an emphatic heart and balls of steel. John Woo made a film of their famous battle entitled Red Cliff in 2008.

Chinese Taoism temples serve a functional purpose which is serving back to the communities. Most of the time, people will seek help from the divine for answers, consultations, help when shit happens. Its like NGO organisation too.

again the answers given is to help the individual to be a better person - period.

Each painting was auctioned off at the temple anniversary dinner, i'm pretty happy seeing that the painting generated a substantial amount of money as people kept on bidding to own it.

 Peach Tree Oath - 2015
here you guys can read more here at this link

Oath

The Oath painting is the last and the most challenging as i need to blend in toughness, male presence with pinking organic cherry blossoms. I will do a special one off painting for the temple's 10th anniversary. The Temple now is 5 years old.
