Reading : Plato's Cave
Seriously i had enough dealing with people, academic articles its pretty filled lengthy words, which ended up in the journals that people will not read ( collecting dust ) - as it's filled with technical jargon and pompous words.
First of all - every one need to acquire their basic skills, invest some time to understand the language ( the mechanism ), secondly - look how their craft/product is supported with adequate context - ensuring that their product stands thru the test of time.
Most of the time, most are good with the skills but lacking in the contextualizing aspect. Worst, both aspects are weak.
The every why, where, how, who - how it going to be translated, produced, presented are the ones that add context to it.
What is context?
context - the circumstances that form the setting for an event, statement, or idea, and in terms of which it can be fully understood and assessed.
Case Study No 1:
Plato : Allegory of the Cave.
most of the time - i will suggest students or anyone pick up and understand Plato's intelligent observation called the Allegory of the Cave.
Put it simply, a group of cavemen are seduced by the shadows created by a fire. One of the caveman decided to look around, found out the source of the shadow.
He explored thoroughly and found out how it works - subsequently and finally The Truth. The problem is he didnt ( i believe he tried ) inform the rest as they are still intrigued - seduced, amazed by the shadow in front of them.
The shadow can be either our reading materials, TV shows, "news" and other related viral worthy FB posts.
we are easily distracted.

Every form created must carry content.

here is our version of Plato's Allegory of the Cave.
I believe most of us behaved exactly like those kids in the photo - happily intrigued, concentrating only what is in front of us, joining in the fun, creating more shadows - forgetting everything.
Did we bring ourself out from the rest and try to see the bigger picture?
investigate the whole scenario?
When we found out something, did we share with others?
Did we try to find out how it works?
The answer is Nope - as we are too busy - again - attracted to the shadows in front of us - distracting us with seductive imageries - worst asking us to participate in it. Just like sharing all the noisy FB feeds, got unto attractive demostrations - which the main act that is engineered, directed by selected few.
Which one you prefer being somewhere to nowhere or being nowhere to see out where you are standing.
Choose wisely ok.
No need to contribute more noises.
Be quiet - observe and listen
and you will see many things unravel itself in front of you.
Few photos are taken from GemaBelas Tour photo. We currently travelling to selected locations in the country - "screening" empowering - reflective based narratives and ultimately asking everyone to see the bigger picture.
