Beatles / Hotwheels
.....and Mattel released Beatles Yellow Submarine this year.
I was so out of touch...till i got this from the internet.
Back in the late 90's and early 2000, i can easily pick any Batmobiles from the shelf, even purchasing extra and give it away to my closest pals.
and today, i cant find any one of them. There are dedicated people who lined up to to the mall early in the morning, few toy departmental staffs told me that these guys know the exact time and place "when" the new model arrives.Just because they will get all the "hot" models and selling it at secondary market in a higher price.
The models which will be snapped up even before they are displayed are the JDM ( Jap shit cars ), pop culture related models such as this and of course the Batmobiles.
again, this wont happen if there are no buyers.
but the buyers like me likely to be frustrated seeing those pegwarmers as all the nice stuffs are taken.
I mean, who have time to visit toy departmental stores man.....
For example, this particular model retails at RM8 bucks, it sells at RM20 in the secondary market. I kid you not. I still remember an Ecto 1 can go up to RM70 ( the original price is RM22.90 ). Seriously this despicable explainable, ugly attitude is killing my interest.
Fine - I know that they will use the excuse of paying the bills, rentals and other related factors for this jacked up price - mind you, in the long run, it will not go anywhere.
For dedicated scalpers who have made this hobby miserable, taking off the joy in collecting pop culture memorabilia which are made for mass consumption - kindly please go to hell.....
Its a toy - not gold or silver.
Talking about scalpers - Im pretty happy when China released all the retired UCS Lego models as the local Lego collectors jacked up their prices, they purchase it not because they love them, but making it as investment.
an investment.....yep.
just like this iconic Ghostbusters Fire House Station.
Imagine a normal UCS unit that costs around RM800 bucks can up to RM1500 or more within 3 months. It can go way higher when Lego retires the set, making me and the rest biting our fingers and drool away. These retards who "at times" call themselves collectors don't build them, but displaying their collection like a freaking Lego warehouse. These goons purchased several units at one go. Few years back, they laugh all the way to the bank as people will buy them at a higher price, but now they are left with those unopened boxes when China flooded the market with the exact carbon copy.
In the end of the day - let me remind you - it's a freaking toy, meant for mass consumption you meaningless, brainless, greedy worthless piece of meat !!
it's 50 years old - mind you |
as usual, need to purchase it from scalpers. |
