Indon Pop 1 : Language/Diction/Vocab

I dig people who knows how to write, using the right word to frame up something, having an enormous vocabs - using them effectively. In the early 2000's Indonesian pop bands seeped into Malaysian consciousness and they stamped something solid since. ( that includes yours truly ).

As always I dig catchy hooks and riffs -

groovy rhythms never fail to entice me. But what is special here, the Indonesian bands packed a wallop here with their brilliant command of language and diction. I am stunned. Bahasa Malaysia and Indonesia shared the same common ground - both of them originated from Sanskrit.

Anyway im not going to delve more to language history here but giving you a couple of tracks that leave me stunned speechless.

Lets start with Sheila on 7 and my favorite music video track. Their simplistic nature disarmed me by showing me how their combine their might through words and emotions in their craft.

Clean, naively simple but it has a charming gloss in their works.

I always made a point reading their lyrics and marveled how they compose it. Their diction is simply remarkable.....the one i highlighted are the ones that made me shake my head.....

They dont sound CORNY man!!!!!!!

Ribuan hari aku menunggumu
Jutaan lagu tercipta untukmu

Apakah kau akan terus begini
Masih adakah celah di hatimu
Yang masih bisa tuk ku singgahi
Cobalah aku kapan engkau mau

Tahukah lagu yang kau suka
Tahukah bintang yang kau sapa
Tahukah rumah yang kau tuju...
Itu aku...

Tahukah lagu yang kau suka
Tahukah bintang yang kau sapa
Tahukah rumah yang kau tuju...
Itu aku...

Coba keluar di malam badai
Nyanyikan lagu yang kau suka
Maka kesejukan yang kau rasa
Coba keluar di terik siang
Ingatlah bintang yang kau sapa
Maka kehangatan yang kau rasa

Tahukah lagu yang kau suka
Tahukah bintang yang kau sapa
Tahukah rumah yang kau tuju...
Itu aku...

Tahukah lagu yang kau suka
Tahukah bintang yang kau sapa
Tahukah rumah yang kau tuju...
Itu aku...

Percayalah...
Itu aku...

To be continued.
