Chinese Odyssey
Was on long break for Chinese New Year, hence no FB and blog posts. So as usual, i discussed with my brothers, i admit ive been missing Stephen Chow's presence. Its been years since Stephen Chow released his
films, his last one - CJ7 is terrible.
So to cure my heartache - i dug unto his classics. Released in 1995, The Chinese Odyssey Part 1 and 2. Remixing time travel, The Monkey King - Journey to the West mythology and a heart-breaking love story - this 2 part narrative is one of the pop cultural gift to be cherished again and again.
Most people found it confusing after the first viewing, as it contains tons of characters and conflicts. I normally asked people to watch it again and digest it slowly. It's like having a huge exotic meals and you washed it down with an expensive champagne instead of wine.
Man.......to be honest, the last 15 minutes of the second part of the film still breaks my heart and leave it aching.
