i dont know why they call it universe when the fact is they represent their own country, unless if each planet sending their contestant, then only the organizers can call it MISS UNIVERSE.   i admit it can be challenging for the designer to come up with an idea to translate the national spirit to a costume, at the same time being "creative" or experimenting with something "not so new" or making it more OBVIOUS.    so how literal you can get.....to show the participant representing Malaysia?   nasi lemak or  wau bulan   anyway, Miss Philippines won the Best Costume by dressing like Buzz Lightyear.   what a way to close 2023.
